What the validator checks
- Missing or malformed timestamps and empty cues.
- Incorrect SRT numbering, unsorted cues, and overlapping timing.
- More than two lines, lines over 42 characters, and reading speed over 20 characters per second.
The fixed download sorts cues, regenerates SRT numbering, normalizes the format, and trims overlaps. Text readability warnings are reported but never rewritten automatically.
FAQ
What can be fixed automatically?
Cue order, SRT sequence numbers, line-ending format, and overlapping end times. Files with unreadable timestamps or empty timed cues are not modified, because dropping content would not be a safe repair.
Why are long lines and fast captions not rewritten?
Fixing readability requires editorial judgment. The validator identifies the affected cue so you can adjust its wording or timing without an automatic tool changing the meaning.
Are my files uploaded?
No — validation and repair happen locally in your browser.
